We have several locations across the US and are looking for new Associates to join our team POSITION PURPOSE The primary role of the Core Team Leader, Director Product Development is to lead the execution of product development programs in support of PDIs growth strategies in Interventional Care. He/she will lead a multi-discipline team of scientists, engineers, and business professionals in the development of new drug and delivery system products and medical device. The incumbent will interact with the other cross-functional team members as well as extended team members from across the organization, ensuring strong connectivity, provide leadership and technical guidance. Finally, as a Director for Product Development, he/she will foster and develop a team of direct reports to exceed the expectations on core competencies and customer connectivity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Responsibilities include leading the design, development and execution of new product programs including directing the phase gate product development process, product validation efforts for new products, manufacturing for commercial scale-up. He/she will also assist in the implementation of an organizational structure that supports successful delivery of innovation in the scope and timing defined by business needs. Position Responsibilities: The Core Team Leader, Director Product Development will have a significant impact on revenue growth, profitability and brand/company equity. He/she will lead a multi-functional team in product development to include: Drug Delivery Devices & System Engineering Microbiology Product Marketing Manufacturing Operations Procurement Regulatory & Quality Finance The Core Team Leader, Director Product Development will act as the leader for Product Development Projects, operating as the mini-GM for new product development programs. Responsibilities include: Leads Product Development Teams and drives day-to-day project operations across all functional groups Guides the planning of and gains team commitment for complex cross functional projects Develops and manages integrated project including business case, operating plan and budget and execution Manages project commitments within the contractual terms approved by the Product Approval Committee Provides project status, coordinates Project review process including interim reviews to the Product Approval Committee Recognizes product and project risks and leads the planning and execution of appropriate mitigation strategies Resolves project / functional conflicts and identifies and negotiates cross functional tradeoffs Acts as an internal and external Product Champion Coaches Product Development Team members in their role as team member and provides input into their performance evaluations This position will also be the functional leader of the R&D organization that consistently develops market leading products and technologies in support of aggressive growth strategies in Interventional Care. He/she should excel in working efficiently and effectively in leading innovation. Meet key PDI business targets for Interventional Care Product Development, Research & Development, and other initiatives projected to contribute revenue and profit growth. 2. Support, recruit, develop and retain an effective team; act as a model for the R&D organization. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will have 10 years of applicable experience in a research and development environment and at least 7 years of management experience leading multi-functional teams. A strong background in drug and delivery system development, research, process development, is a must. The successful candidate will have a successful track record of product innovation, utilizing people effectively and managing against performance metrics. Most importantly, he/she must have a successful track record of getting new products from concept through development and production, and into the market in a timely and predictable manner. Ability to attract top talent and provide the necessary leadership and mentoring to address new product initiatives outside of company's core product and process technology domain. Specifically, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following core competencies: Business & organization leadership People management & development Business planning & monitoring Technical management Innovation & creativity Negation & influence Project management Business & financial acumen Customer insight gathering EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Minimum MS degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related scientific discipline required. PhD degree preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: FDA OTC drug product development and process awareness. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 10 years of relevant experience in leading product development, with a demonstrated track record of successful product launches and scientific and leadership responsibilities. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills to collaborate on and direct the work of others on assigned projects (including both internal teams and external collaborators). Sound knowledge of related aspects of Infection Prevention and Interventional Care research, development, and commercialization processes. Established knowledge of applicable global Interventional Care regulatory standards (FDA, Notified Body, etc.). Experience preparing technical and scientific sections of regulatory submissions and interacting with regulatory authorities on technical matters. Mastery of the scientific/technical concepts and techniques, applies and furthers those concepts and techniques to efficiently and effectively resolve scientific/technical issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Capable of influencing opinion and sharing technical information and best practices through effective presentations to internal and external audiences.
